The following article, Ilhan Omar Plays the Victim After 9/11 Victim’s Family Calls Out Her Insensitive Remarks, was first published on Big League Politics.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) somehow found a way to paint herself as a victim after she was called out by a family member of a 9/11 victim for her callous comments regarding the Islamic extremist attacks that happened over 18 years ago.
“9/11 was an attack on all Americans. It was an attack on all of us, and I certainly could not understand the weight of the pain that the families of the victims of 9/11 must feel,” Omar said while appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning.
“It’s important for us to make sure that we are not forgetting the aftermath of 9/11, [when] many Americans found themselves now having their civil rights stripped from them, and so what I was speaking to was that as a Muslim, not only was I suffering as an American who was attacked on that day, but the next day I woke up as my fellow Americans were now treating me as suspect,” Omar added.

Nicholas Haros Jr. gave a speech last week on the anniversary of the attacks. He wore a shirt with the words “Some people did something,” a reference to Omar’s infamous remarks trivializing the worst attacks in U.S. history before a group of radical Muslims at a Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) fundraiser.
“‘Some people did something,’ said a freshman congresswoman from Minnesota. … Today I am here to respond to you exactly who did what to whom,” said Haros Jr., whose mom died in the World Trade Center attacks.
Omar made it clear that she will not change her rhetoric, no matter how much her words may offend the victims of Islamic terror attacks. She is emboldened to continue to undermine American interests with her post in Congress.
“Some people would say, ‘Ilhan you should speak a certain way, Ilhan, you should do something a certain way,’ and I believe that’s contradictory to the purpose of my existence in this space,” Omar said.
“I believe that my constituents sent me to make sure that I was bringing in a conversation that others weren’t having, that I was speaking for people who have felt voiceless for a long time,” she added.
Omar’s district is currently undergoing a racially-motivated crime wave where diverse and multicultural gangs rob and assault lone Caucasian males on the streets. Perhaps those are the constituents whose interests she means to represent with her incendiary, anti-American remarks.
