The guessing game about a presidential candidate’s running mate has turned from football to a female who runs a foundation.
Knewz.com has learned about reports that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wants Nicole Shanahan to join him on the ticket, instead of NFL star Aaron Rodgers.
Shanahan is an attorney and foundation president who helped put together Kennedy’s commercial which appeared during Super Bowl XVIII Sunday, February 11.
Knewz.com confirmed Sunday, March 17 that the website KennedyShanahan.com was registered four days earlier. It is registered through a Phoenix company that many websites use to hide their ownership.
But the Mediaite website reports the site was registered by Link Lipsitz, a senior advisor to Kennedy.
Yet that may not settle the issue, as Knewz.com found KennedyRodgers.com was registered Monday, March 4. And KennedyVentura.com, as in rumored running mate Jesse Ventura, was registered Tuesday, March 12.
Mediaite.com reported Saturday, March 16 that Kennedy’s choice of Shanahan over the New York Jets quarterback may come down to money.
Knewz.com reported in recent days on statements by Kennedy aides that Rodgers was on a vice presidential “short list.”
But an anonymous “source close to the campaign” said the mention of Rodgers “prompted concerns among donors.”
They may have been shaken by CNN reporter Pamela Brown’s claim that Rodgers once sounded skeptical about the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut.
Knewz.com has noted Rodgers denies that claim. He has been quiet on X (formerly Twitter) since that denial.
On the other hand, Shanahan reportedly “can help finance the ballot access initiative,” as Kennedy applies to get on the ballot in all 50 states as an independent.
Kennedy and Shanahan “align on numerous issues,” the anonymous source claimed. Shanahan reportedly also is investing millions of dollars in the campaign, “which makes her attractive financially.”
The Washington Examiner reports Shanahan donated $6,600 to Kennedy’s presidential campaign before he decided to switch from a Democratic Party bid to an independent one.
Shanahan, 38, has dealt with her own rumors. RadarOnline.com reports she was accused last year of having an affair with X and SpaceX mogul Elon Musk, which she denied.
Shanahan is divorced from Sergey Brinn, one of the co-founders of Google. Kennedy has been divorced once, while Wikipedia notes his second wife hanged herself in 2012.
A Stanford University Law School biography says Shanahan runs the Bia-Echo Foundation, which seeks to invest in “reproductive longevity & equality, criminal justice reform, and a healthy and livable planet.”
Kennedy’s campaign has announced that he will name a running mate Tuesday, March 26 in Oakland. That’s near not only Stanford, but Berkeley, California, where Rodgers played college football.
“The Jets currently don’t believe Rodgers will do it,” as in run for vice president, an anonymous knowledgeable source told ProFootballTalk.com. But Rodgers hasn’t told the team about a decision either way.
If Rodgers leaves the Jets for politics, he will forfeit $37.5 million in pay.
