The following article, Trump Raises $24.8 Million After Announcing Campaign, Four Times More Than Closest Democrats, was first published on Big League Politics.
This morning the Republican National Committee announced that President Donald Trump raised $24.8 million in the 24 hours surrounding the announcement of his 2020 reelection campaign, over four times as much raised by Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke and Sen. Bernie Sanders in the first 24 hours of their campaigns.
Republican Party Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel announced via Twitter that President Trump “has raised a record breaking $24.8 [million] in less than 24 hours for his re-election,” adding that “the enthusiasm across the country for this President us unmatched and unlike anything we’ve ever seen!”

According to the numbers, McDaniel is right.
Big League Politics has extensively reported about the Democrats and their various war chests. O’Rourke and Sanders lead the field by far, especially when it came to fundraising in the first 24 hours. O’Rourke, noted Irishman, raised $6.1 million in the first 24 hours of his campaign, narrowly edging out Sanders who raised $5.9 million. Both numbers were thought to be mind boggling and record breaking when they were reported.
In fact, both Democrats are in first place when it comes to fundraising within their own party by a large margin. Big League Politics reported earlier this year that in terms of fundraising in the first 24 hours, the closest to O’Rourke and Biden are Sen. Kamala Harris with $1.5 million and Sen. Amy Klobuchar with $1 million.
Some candidates, particularly Sen. Elizabeth Warren have proved to be huge fundraising disappointments. The 1/1024 Native American congresswoman raised less than $300,000 in her first 24 hours.
Of course, fundraising does not necessarily equal enthusiasm. O’Rourke is now lucky if he gets 40 people to attend his rallies, and Sanders is lagging behind the current establishment favorite, former vice president Joe Biden, in virtually every poll.
It remains to be seen if Biden, who recently stroked a 10-year-old girl and complimented her looks, will actually prove to be electable or if he will doom his own candidacy.
