Most polls show President Joe Biden trailing behind former President Donald Trump, and that fact seems to have left Biden’s former boss shaken.
That’s evident from an article published by The New York Times this week which detailed how former President Barack Obama is taking an active role in the Biden campaign.
Former president “always” worried Trump will win
The piece cited unnamed sources who say that Obama and Biden have been having regular telephone conversations for some time.
Obama’s contact isn’t limited to his one-time vice president, however, as he is also said to speak frequently with White House chief of staff Jeffrey Zient along with high ranking Biden campaign aides.
One senior aide told the newspaper that Obama is “always” worried Biden will be beaten by Trump in November and needs help in eking out a victory.
In addition to helping behind the scenes, Obama also lent Biden this week by helping to organize a high-dollar fundraiser with former President Bill Clinton.
Obama joins host of celebrities
According to CBS News, the event took place on Thursday at New York’s Radio City Music Hall and featured musicians Queen Latifah, Lizzo, Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo, and Lea Michele along with actress Mindy Kaling and “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert.

Biden touted the fundraiser in a social media post as an opportunity to “discuss what’s on the ballot in this election and how we will defeat Trump again.”
The Telegraph reported that those wishing to attend the event had to pony up a $250,000 entrance fee while photos with Clinton, Obama, and Biden costed $100,000.
Trump visits with family of fallen officer on day of Biden fundraiser
However, critics pointed out that one the same day Biden was holding his fundraiser, Trump chose to attend the funeral of a fallen New York police officer.
“Such a sad, sad event. Such a horrible thing. And it’s happening all too often and we’re just not going to let it happen. We need law and order,” Trump said regarding the death of NYPD officer Jonathan Diller.
Fox News noted that CNN political analyst Alyssa Farah Griffin Trump’s decision to meet with Diller’s family is likely to have greater resonance with most voters than Biden’s fundraiser will.
