Leftwing groups are praising the new Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson for not alerting federal law enforcement when illegal immigrants are caught breaking the law.
Dave Hutchinson who previously worked at Metro Transit won in a very close election against longtime Sheriff Rich Stanek. Dave Hutchinson was Democrat endorsed and ran to be a liberal law enforcement official. While he did not win the suburbs of Minneapolis, he was able to get enough votes from Minneapolis to win the seat by less than 1%.
Council for Islamic American Relations has also praised the new Sheriff for relaxing policies on countering violent extremism. “It’s too early to determine the impact, but we believe he has made a commitment,” said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Star Tribune reports that residents can continue to expect the new Sheriff to advocate for leftwing social policies going forward.
