Previously Deported Illegal Alien Charged with Drug Trafficking, Other Crimes

The following article, Previously Deported Illegal Alien Charged with Drug Trafficking, Other Crimes, was first published on Big League Politics.

A previously deported illegal alien who made his way back to the United States and was living in Kansas was arrested in early June and charged with a bevy of drug crimes.

“Pedro Cervantes is charged with possessing with intent to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine and weed, as well as possessing a gun in furtherance of drug trafficking and possessing a gun while in the country illegally,” according to The Wichita Eagle.

The charges against him were filed in federal court last week.

Cervantes was deported in 2015, but apparently had no problem illegally reentering the United States, and allegedly ramped up quite the drug selling operation once he returned.

From The Wichita Eagle:

“An ATF special agent wrote in an affidavit that investigators found guns, drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the house. Drugs were found in plastic bags on the dining room table. The document doesn’t detail the amount of cocaine, meth and weed that was found, stating only that the amount seized indicates it was likely intended for distribution. Additional drugs were found in the kitchen, as well as supplies to package drugs.”

Several drug-weighing scales, a large amount of cash, and three guns – including a Glock handgun, a Mossberg shotgun, and a Colt rifle that had been reported stolen in 2016 – were also found at the scene.

Cervantes’ arrest comes during a time of gridlock in Washington, D.C. over the issue of border security.

Big League Politics reported:

President Donald J. Trump has declared a national state of emergency, for which several heavily-blue states immediately sued his administration. Democrats refuse to budge on the issue, unwilling to secure America’s borders. As illegal border crossings surge, they blocked a meaningful amount of wall funding in the 2019 federal budget.

In what many conservatives see as a colossal failure, the Republican Congress, led by former Speaker Paul Ryan, current Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, failed to deliver wall funding to the president’s desk during all of 2017 and 2018, when Republicans held the House, the Senate, and the White House.
