DML Briefing: Monday June 17

Today is June 17, and here are the stories I am watching.

1-US-China trade war takes center stage
The US. Trade Representative’s office is set to hold public hearings Monday that will focus on the new round of 25 percent tariffs the Trump administration plans to slap on $300 billion in imported Chinese items not already hit with levies, including toys, shirts, household goods and sneakers. President Trump has already imposed 25 percent tariffs on $250 billion of goods from China and has said a new round of tariffs are needed to force the nation to end unfair trade practices. Meanwhile, more than 600 companies and trade associations, including Walmart and Target, have signed a letter telling the president that an escalating trade war with China will hurt families, jobs and the U.S. economy.

DML: If the US does not keep its place on the world stage as THE ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE, then we will crumble to the likes of China and Russia.  Trump must keep the pressure on until the right deal is in place.

2-AOC has a warning for Democrats — and Trump agrees (in a way)
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., warned Sunday there is “very real risk” President Trump will win re-election in 2020, sparking a rare response of its kind from the president: “I agree.” “I think that we have a very real risk of losing the presidency to Donald Trump if we do not have a presidential candidate that is fighting for true transformational change in the lives of working people in the United States,” Ocasio-Cortez told ABC News’ Jon Karl on “This Week” in her first Sunday morning show appearance since she took office in January.

DML: The biggest problem here is that this woman gets airtime on a major network.  Can you even imagine her getting this sort of attention in the early years when news programming wasn’t about ratings.  AOC is a flake, with no major laws or reasonable idea about running the country, and yet they treat her as if she is a seasoned pro.   Insane.

3-Iran to defy uranium stockpile limits
Iran is set to break its uranium stockpile limit set by the nuclear deal within 10 days, according to a spokesman for the country’s atomic agency. The comment was broadcast live during a news conference on Iranian state television on Monday. The spokesman, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spoke to journalists at Iran’s Arak heavy water facility. He acknowledged that Iran has already quadrupled its production of low-enriched uranium.

DML: If anyone thinks the Iranians stopped making nukes after the Iran-deal was put in place by Obama, you probably believe that Santa will be coming down the chimney in 6 months.

4-Chatting confidently about what he’d do as commander-in-chief, Pete Buttigieg told “Axios on HBO” that he “wouldn’t put it past” President Trump to allow the border “to become worse in order to have it be a more divisive issue, so that he could benefit politically.”

DML: There is some truth here, and I will not lie when saying it pisses me off that Trump pulled the tariffs at the last minute.  The more chaos at the border, the more people will lean towards Trump to fix it.  Not because he has demonstrated the ability to do such a thing, but because no reasonable voter believes the Democrats want it cured.  With that in mind, Trump must be careful.  By not fixing it, he could force conservatives not to show up for him in 2020.

5-According to multiple reports, President Trump’s campaign has decided to purge some of its pollsters after a leak of dismal internal polls for the president that he denied existed. With Trump officially kicking off his campaign tomorrow, “a top adviser said … the campaign was cutting ties with three of its five pollsters.”

DML: My DML Report later today will explain what a “pollster” does for a campaign.  If you are not a member of TeamDML.com, you should join today so that you do not miss these sort of podcasts.

6-MacCullum and Baier both respond to TeamDML.  With more than 5,000 TeamDML enthusiasts both from TeamDML.com and DML Facebook 99 Cents Group, the emails and bumper sticker campaign efforts to encourage FOX News to stop running hour-long town halls for Democratic candidates is working.  The co-hosts both responded in emails to TeamDML members Sunday.  This proves to me that we need to do MORE of this sort of activism and YOU need to get involved to help keep the radial Democrats away from the White House in 2020.  Please, go to DennisMichaelLynch.com/Fox and participate in the email / bumper sticker campaign.  If you have done so already, consider doing it again by means of getting a bulk load of the stickers and resending your email.  No more of these Trump-bashing programs should air on FOX — you need to use the power you hold.  Be sure to be polite in your email.
