From the Associated Press:
ATLANTA (AP) — The judge overseeing the Georgia election interference case on Wednesday dismissed some of the charges against former President Donald Trump, but many other counts in the indictment remain.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee wrote in an order that six of the counts in the indictment must be quashed, including three against Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee.
But the order leaves intact other charges, and the judge wrote that prosecutors could seek a new indictment on the charges he dismissed.
The report explains that the six charges dismissed are centered around officials, including Trump, reaching out to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on January 2, 2021.
They were accused of “soliciting elected officials to violate their oaths of office.”
“All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have,” Trump said had said in his call to Raffensperger.
Those impacted by the judge’s decision Wednesday included Trump, Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Mark Meadows, Ray Stallings Smith III and Robert Cheeley.

Fox News shared a statement from the judge:
“The Court’s concern is less that the State has failed to allege sufficient conduct of the Defendants — in fact it has alleged an abundance. However, the lack of detail concerning an essential legal element is, in the undersigned opinion, fatal.
“As written, these six counts contain all the essential elements of the crimes but fail to allege sufficient detail regarding the nature of their commission, i.e., the underlying felony solicited.
“They do not give the Defendants enough information to prepare their defenses intelligently, as the Defendants could have violated the Constitutions and thus the statute in dozens, if not hundreds, of distinct ways.”
