Michael Gove declares. So does Andrea Leadsom. And Matt Hancock. And, formally, Dominic Raab. Priti Patel may stand. So may Liam Fox. So may Steve Baker. Amber Rudd won’t. Nor will Liz Truss.
There is so much leadership election news in today’s papers that the Theresa May resignation aftermath reads almost like an afterthought.
But should not be allowed to crowd out the European Parliamentary election results. These will begin to be announced this evening.
We will be writing them up, as our leaders will expect, and pause only to say: watch the turnout. What happens to it in areas that trended heavily to Leave or Remain in 2016 is likely to be significant.
