Lawyer Michael Avenatti, who is serving a 48-month prison sentence for fraud, has reportedly been in talks with former President Donald Trump’s legal team to testify in Trump’s hush-money trial.
Avenatti, who once represented adult film star Stormy Daniels against Trump, confirmed that he had a conversation about possibly testifying for Trump and this may have massive implications for the entire case.
Avenatti told The New York Post that, “The defense has contacted me. I’d be more than happy to testify, I don’t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump’s defense for the better part of year.”
He also gave his opinion on the case against Trump saying, “If the defendant was anyone other than Donald Trump, this case would not have been brought at this time, and for the government to attempt to bring this case and convict him in an effort to prevent tens of millions of people from voting for him. I think it’s just flat-out wrong and atrocious.”
Considering Avenatti’s proximity to Daniel’s and disgraced lawyer Michael Cohen, who allegedly handled the hush-money payments, his testimony could blow this case wide open.
All of this is bad news for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and the Democrat Party who are hoping to see Trump convicted before the election in November.
