Fulton County DA Fani Willis has her hands full with issues from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
A whistleblower recently came forward, alleging that Willis had misspent funding that came from a federal grant.
The DOJ is now asking Willis to clear up these discrepancies.
Big Problems
From the outside looking in, it would seem that Willis is running a fairly corrupt shop.
She was dating a prosecutor whom she paid more than experts she had hired to help prosecute Donald Trump in the RICO case she presented.
Not only that, but it also appears that she may have fired a staffer who brought to light questionable spending habits by other staffers who appear to have been misappropriating a federal grant that was funding the office.
The whistleblower, Amanda Thompson, stated that grant money had been used for items not covered in the grant, such as computers and swag for the office.
She claimed to have told Willis, “I said, ‘You cannot do that, it’s a very, very specific grant.’” Thompson was eventually terminated from the office.
Now the DOJ has apparently audited the Fulton County office, claiming that it has found discrepancies in how Willis reported on the spending of the grant money.
A DOJ spokesperson confirmed that report, stating, “During our review of the award to respond to this inquiry, we have noticed some inconsistencies in what Fulton County has reported … and we are working with them to update their reporting accordingly.”
When Thompson initially came forward, Willis tried to hurt her credibility, responding to her claims, “The House Committee on the Judiciary should not afford Ms. Timpson a forum to air erroneous claims merely because it seeks to continue its partisan efforts to target and interfere with this Office.”
This is all just more ammunition that Trump can use against Willis in his efforts to have her removed from his upcoming case in Georgia.
