Former President Donald Trump is not the only one who believes in border walls.
There’s another border wall currently under construction – between the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
From the Wall Street Journal:
DAJABÓN, Dominican Republic—The Caribbean island of Hispaniola, shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic, has been divided for centuries, sometimes bitterly, by language, race, history and culture. As Haiti descends further into chaos and collapse, the divides are becoming concrete—literally. The Dominican Republic is speeding up work on a wall along the 250-mile border cutting across the interior of the island.
Dominican President Luis Abinader is aiming to block human smugglers or criminals from crossing the border.
He has long warned the United Nations and other international forums about what would happen if Haiti collapsed. In the past few weeks, the Haitian government has spiraled into anarchy, its prime minister has been unable to return from a trip abroad and large tracts of Port-au-Prince are under the control of warlords and gang leaders such as Jimmy “Barbecue” Chérizier, who is pushing to uproot the entire political system.
“We were the first to warn that Haiti was turning into another Somalia,” Abinader said in an interview at the ornate presidential palace in the Dominican capital, Santo Domingo.
The report explains that Abinader approved construction plans for the wall three years ago, modeling it after the wall Israel built in the Golan Heights to separate it from Syria.
The Dominican Republic is building a wall to keep out Haitians, as chaos engulfs the neighboring country. It’s the latest phase in centuries of bitter division there. https://t.co/VNWlcS1jcJ https://t.co/VNWlcS1jcJ

Elon Musk commented on the border wall, writing, “Interesting.”
Abinader responded, “You’re right, @elonmusk. Our smart security fence initiative between the Dominican Republic and Haiti is indeed an interesting project that is being implemented as we speak, helping to keep our country secure. However, I think you’ll find our technological manufacturing capabilities in the free trade zones even more fascinating. We have a highly skilled workforce and robust infrastructure ready to support advanced manufacturing. I invite you to visit us in the DR whenever you’d like to see it for yourself and explore potential opportunities.”

The Dominican Republic has also been loading up the illegal alien Haitians on trucks and bringing them back to Haiti in a massive deportation effort – much to the dismay of liberal civil rights groups.
