PHOENIX — The family of Dasia Patterson, who was murdered along with two of her children, spoke out about the tragic killings on Saturday.

“My daughter was one of the most humble in the world. Sweet, honest, and wouldn’t harm anyone,” said Cynthia Patterson, Dasia’s mom.

The article goes on to state the following:

Austin Smith was arrested and charged with killing his wife, two of his children and a family friend near 67th Avenue and Camelback Road during a shooting spree on Thursday night.

According to police, Smith believed his wife, Dasia Patterson, was cheating on him with his brother.

Police say Smith returned home from a local bar around 8:15 p.m. and confronted Patterson about the alleged affair, which she denied. According to court paperwork, Smith told police he shot Patterson and his 5-year-old daughter, Nasha Smith because he felt it was what God had told him to do.

His oldest daughter, 7-year-old Mayan Smith, died of blunt force trauma police say her father inflicted because she was crying. Investigators say Smith admitted he did not kill his youngest daughter, a 3-year-old, because she “reminded him of himself,” whereas his other daughters reminded him of his wife.
