Beto jumped into the presidential race in Iowa, and at a campaign stop, compared the fight against climate change to World War II’s D-Day in Normandy, one of the largest military invasions in history. I am not sure this will play well with potential Veteran voters.
Before I go any further, I will stop and encourage you to watch the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan. In fact, I might just send Beto a copy.
It starts with a 27-minute beachfront attack by American forces on Omaha Beach. It portrays an intensely chaotic attack that Director Steven Spielberg had researched with painstaking accuracy. He employed Paul Fussell, the veteran and critic and historian Stephen Ambrose as consultants and used amputees as actors and the results were pretty shocking. It is real.
Beto O’Rourke should be ashamed of himself for such a stupid analogy. He doesn’t have enough courage to get to have gotten on the boat, let alone get off and fight.
“How can we, who used to be the indispensable nation, be the only country that has removed itself from any obligation to work with anyone on perhaps the most pressing problem,” O’Rourke said, alleging that President Trump doesn’t believe in climate change.
“When you think about leadership, those who preceded us — those who were on the beaches in Normandy, those who faced an existential threat to Western democracy and our way of life, they showed us the way. We can all come together. We can unite. We can marshal the resources. And we can convene the countries of the world around otherwise unsolvable problems,” he continued.

But the comparison of the fight against climate change to the war against the Nazis is not new.
Democratic Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey made similar comments, telling a group of supporters at an Iowa rally in February that the world has faced catastrophes in the past. “When the planet has been in peril in the past, who came forward to save Earth … from the scourge of Nazis and totalitarian regimes? We came forward,” said Booker.
New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called last year for the immediate all-out mobilization of American industry to combat climate change, saying the “direct existential threat” it poses to the world is similar to the danger posed by Nazi Germany during World War II.
What is with this New Democrat Party? John Fitzgerald Kennedy is rolling over in his grave. They are making his brother Teddy look like Ronald Reagan!
I tend to believe that this all out civil war in the Democrat party is very good for conservatives. The far left and socialist wing of the party has taken control. The moderates seem to know it is dangerous.
From abortion to gun control to the economy, the candidates are almost all taking extremist views and many in the party is following. But the average Democrat is not a socialist.
Barack Obama hid his far left leanings on the campaign trail, these folks are not. I really do believe it backfires. This New Democrat Party has really jumped the shark.
One more time!
Shame on you Robert Francis O’Rourke. Don’t you dare minimize those brave men who lost their lives on that beach for your failed ideology. You need your mouth washed out with soap!
