It would appear that Democrats have all but abandoned the phrase “Bidenomics” according to a new report by Axios.
Despite using the word to try to boost public recognition of President Joe Biden’s work on the post-COVID economy, Democrats have found that it gained no traction among Americans struggling with inflation. According to the report, Biden finally revived the term on Tuesday after not having uttered it since the end of January. He even left his namesake out of his State of the Union address, a telling move that really drives home how unpopular the term had become.
“Leading economists aren’t making much fun of ‘Bidenomics’ anymore,” the president bragged “They’re thinking maybe it works!”
But why, after so many months of pushing the term on Americans and bragging about how great the economy is doing, were Democrats dumping “Bidenomics”? As Axios tells it, Republicans had co-oped the term and were using it “mockingly” even though they claim “the economy has improved under Biden.”
Being told the economy has improved while families are having to choose whether to pay bills or put food on the table likely wasn’t endearing voters to the incumbent president, forcing the left to admit that “Bidenomics” was becoming a negative term. In November of last year, one of Biden’s close allies Rep. James Clyburn, D-South Carolina, publically admitted that he didn’t like “Bidenomics” and explained why he believed other people were turning away from it as well.
“The people that he [Biden] stands for don’t deal with economics,” he said. “They deal with day-to-day issues. They have to educate their children and feed their families and develop their communities — and that doesn’t sound like ‘Bidenomics.’”
It doesn’t appear that Biden will be re-embracing his namesake for the remainder of his presidential campaign, though it’s unclear if congressional Democrats are going to attempt a revival if the economy begins to improve significantly before November.
Social media reacted to the report:
Yeah but they said it, went with it so now they own it.

Axios deceptively blames its own and the rest of pro-Biden media’s abandonment of the word on Biden.
This means you’re getting your campaign talking points from Biden.
