Robert Mueller Gives Michael Flynn’s Interview Report to Judge; Agents Thought He Did Not Lie

Robert Mueller Gives Michael Flynn’s Interview Report to Judge; Agents Thought He Did Not Lie.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller turned over the “302” interview report on Friday. U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan requested Michael Flynn’s interview report after his defence team said that he was pressured to not bring a lawyer to his interview with FBI agents on Jan. 24, 2017.

It was in this interview where the FBI formed their case against Flynn for lying to the FBI. Flynn plead guilty to these charges earlier this year which began further investigations into Trump’s administration.

In its filing, Mueller’s team urged the judge to not look at the “circumstances” of the interview as “mitigating,” claiming that they did not cause Flynn to lie to the FBI.

The prosecutors say:

“The defendant chose to make false statements about his communications with the Russian ambassador weeks before the FBI interview, when he lied about that topic to the media, the incoming Vice President, and other members of the Presidential Transition Team.

When faced with the FBI’s questions on January 24, during an interview that was voluntary and cordial, the defendant repeated the same false statements. The Court should reject the defendant’s attempt to minimize the seriousness of those false statements to the FBI.”

The Judge also asked for a memorandum from then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. McCabe was later fired for leaking information to the media and then lying about it under oath.

McCabe is the one who urged Flynn to just talk to the FBI on his own because it would be “quickest” to not involve the White House counsel.

The 302 that was submitted to the court has a number of things that should be pointed out like, the agents deciding that they would “not warn Flynn that it was a crime to lie during an FBI interview because they wanted Flynn to be relaxed.”

The 302 goes further to note that Flynn “did not give any indicators of deception,” and that Strzok and the other agent (name redacted) who interviewed Flynn “both had the impression at the time that Flynn was not lying or did not think he was lying.”

This documented impression directly contradicts the statement that then FBI director James Comey made.

Comey told a House investigative panel under oath that “the conclusion of the investigators was he was obviously lying.”

During a speech at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan last weekend, Comey even bragged that he had taken advantage of the first few days of Trump’s administration to target Flynn.
