REPORT: NYPD investigating sex crimes detective for alleged misconduct

A detective in the New York Police Department’s sex crimes unit is reportedly under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct involving a fellow officer.

BuzzFeed News reports that Abel Perez, a detective working with the NYPD’s Special Victims Division, is under internal investigation after being accused of grabbing the butt of a female officer inside the division’s Manhattan office.

The outlet also reports that a commanding officer overseeing both the unidentified woman and Perez tried during a three-hour closed-door meeting to dissuade the female detective from going forward with an official complaint, according to one source familiar with the investigation.
