U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday fired Maurene Comey from her position as a top Manhattan prosecutor for the DOJ, according to sources familiar with the firing.
Comey is the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, who is still being investigated for his role in the false Russia collusion narrative aimed at President Donald Trump in 2015 as he ran for president and during most of his first term.
The reason for her firing was not immediately clear. Comey prosecuted both Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell as well as Sean “Diddy” Combs, all for sex crimes.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan and the DOJ are not commenting on the firing.
“Righteous indignation”
Comey expressed her indignation at being fired summarily in a memo from the Justice Department on Wednesday in a message to her former co-workers.
“If a career prosecutor can be fired without reason, fear may seep into the decisions of those who remain. Do not let that happen,” she wrote. “Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought. Instead of fear, let this moment fuel the fire that already burns at the heart of this place. A fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power. Of commitment to seek justice for victims. Of dedication to truth above all else.”
The firing came two months after investigative journalist Laura Loomer mounted a pressure campaign to fire Comey and her husband, who also works for the DOJ in New York.

“Maurene Comey’s husband is Lucas Issacharoff,” Loomer’s post read. “As I previously reported, he works at the current Trump DOJ, despite a long history being a Trump hater. He is the Assistant U.S. Attorney is SDNY, working in the Civil Division since 2019. No word yet on whether or not he was also fired today, but he should be!”
There has been no report that Issacharoff was also fired.
Justice
The left wants to see vindictiveness and revenge as the motivation for all of Trump’s behavior.
They fail to understand that after what the DOJ and Democrats did to Trump–two phony impeachments, investigations based on misinformation and falsified documents, and two specious indictments–Trump may be motivated by self-protection and a need to prevent bad actors from doing more damage to him and his current administration.
A lot of Trump-haters apparently thought that their livelihoods would be secure no matter what they did to him.
But that’s not really justice, is it?
