For decades, Washington elites have been shipping billions overseas while ignoring struggling American families.
The swamp creatures have gotten so comfortable wasting our money they do not even try to hide it anymore.
But the new sheriff in town promised to drain the swamp and put America First. While the establishment politicians scoffed, patriotic Americans knew he meant business. And this week, our president proved it with a move that has Washington insiders clutching their pearls.
President Trump scored a major victory as the Senate passed his $9 billion clawback package:
[T]argeting wasteful foreign aid and
liberal public broadcasting.
The bill slashed nearly $8 billion from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and over $1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the government-backed funding arm for NPR and PBS.
The vote was nail-bitingly close at 51-48, with Vice President J.D. Vance breaking the tie on a procedural vote to advance the bill. Every Senate communist/globalist opposed the cuts, proving once again fiscal responsibility is not their strong suit.
Noteworthy:
Two RINOs sided with the Left to oppose our president.
Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine both voted against taking back billions in wasteful spending, despite Trump’s warning he would withhold endorsements from those who opposed his fiscal priorities.
From Fox News:
Though Senate Republicans were successful in their mission to pass President Donald Trump’s clawback package, not every member of the conference was on board. Only two Republicans, Sens. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Susan Collins, R-Maine, joined with every Senate Democrat to vote against the $9 billion package geared toward clawing back foreign aid and public broadcasting funding.
Are the questions even worth asking? ‘Why would these RINOs try to help the Left?’ and ‘Are they more concerned with pleasing the Washington establishment than representing conservative values?’
Their actions certainly raise questions about their commitment to Trump’s America First agenda.
Collins, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee, claimed she could not support the bill because of “lack of clarity” from the White House about exactly what would be cut. Meanwhile, Murkowski complained about cuts to public broadcasting, particularly rural radio stations. Sounds like typical RINO excuses, no?
Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin set the record straight, pointing out that these cuts amount to “less than a tenth of a percent” of the federal government’s entire budget.
Johnson said:
This should be a chip shot, OK? I have faith in [OMB Director] Russ Vought. I have faith in the Trump administration. They’re not going to cut things that are important spending.
He is right. This is not about cutting essential services—it is about stopping the flow of American tax dollars to foreign countries and biased media organizations. Why should hardworking Americans fund NPR’s left-wing propaganda when they are struggling to pay their own bills?
Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt, who led the bill in the Senate, hopes:
[This will] highlight some of the wasteful spending, so when we get into the appropriations process in the next few months we would be more keen to be focused on saving people money.
Not surprisingly, communists/globalists—RINOs too are furious about Trump’s success. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has warned Republicans:
[T]his could threaten Democrats’ support for future government funding bills.
Well, no sh*t, Chuck. Obviously, you Lefties object to ending wasteful spending and will demonstrate your disapproval with temper tantrums. But if all goes at least half well, your communist/globalist crime syndicate will soon be dead in the mud.
This is exactly why Conservatism needs Republicans who will stand firm with President Trump. The clawback bill now moves to the House for final approval before heading to Trump’s desk for signature. It faces a Friday deadline to get the measure to the president.
The message from this vote is clear:
President Trump is serious about cutting
government waste and putting America First.
Most Republicans are on board with his agenda, but a few RINOs like Collins and Murkowski continue to side with the Left and We the People recognize their actions as being anti-American.
Voters should remember who stood with Trump and who stood against him when it comes time for re-election. True conservatives support fiscal responsibility and America First policies, not wasteful foreign aid and taxpayer-funded liberal media.
President Trump promised to fight for the forgotten Americans, and that is exactly what he is doing by taking back billions from programs that do not benefit American citizens. Now is the time for all Republicans to get on board or get out of the way—and stop thinking yourselves as Republicans.
Wanted:
Conservative voters to primary any Republican
who betrays the America First agenda.
