A former London police officer has been sentenced to life in prison after murdering his wife in Georgia—allegedly to keep her quiet about his affair and the truth behind their rushed marriage.
Brian McManus, 57, was found guilty of killing 63-year-old Lucille Ann McManus in 2023, the Houston County District Attorney’s Office confirmed this week. Authorities say Lucille had uncovered Brian’s affair with a woman in Florida—and was ready to expose their “sham” marriage, which had helped him secure U.S. residency.
The case began last November, when police responded to a reported suicide at the couple’s home in Warner Robins. There, they found Lucille lying naked on the bed with a head injury. Her husband Brian told officers he’d discovered her body after walking the dog, but something didn’t sit right with investigators.
According to prosecutors, Brian showed little emotion about his wife’s death—only breaking down when talking about how he was being viewed as the main suspect. The investigation soon unraveled his story.
Lucille and Brian had met on Tinder and married within three months. Multiple witnesses testified that the quick marriage was arranged so Brian could get a green card. That plan began to fall apart when Lucille accidentally received a message he meant to send to his mistress.
When she threatened to report the fraudulent marriage, prosecutors say Brian made a horrifying decision—he silenced her for good.
During the investigation, he shifted blame in every direction. At one point, he accused Lucille’s granddaughter and her boyfriend. He also floated theories of a botched burglary and suicide. But none of it held up.
Adding to the disturbing backstory, Brian had previously been fired from the London police force after multiple women came forward accusing him of sexually threatening behavior, according to prosecutors.
In the end, a Georgia jury convicted him of murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
