Salon Strikes Again: Trump Is Terrified of AOC

Amanda Marcotte of Salon strikes again. We would laugh her notions but this senior writer is dead serious in her missive. In short? AOC should run for President in 2028 and Trump is terrified of her.

Let’s start with the terrified bit. Or is it obsessed? Why does Mandy think Trump is obsessed? Well, because he called Socialist Prince Charming, Zohran Mamdani, “AOC=3”.

Meh. He probably wants to sleep with her, Amanda. That’s what every empowered woman like AOC says when her intellect (or lack thereof) is attacked by a man. But, go on.

Ocasio-Cortez isn’t just the opposite of Trump, brimming with the youth and intelligence he lacks. She also offers a sharp contrast to the rest of the Democratic Party, which voters see, for good reason, as feckless, weak and corrupted by corporate interests.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

She is brimming with youth and intelligence, this “Bronx girl”. Brimming with youth and intelligence through her plethora of Instagram posts and hashtags. We just do not understand the sheer intellect that is Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. Droning on and on about her Socialist-Down-With-The-Oligarchy vision over charcuterie and fine wine. Talking about electric airplanes whilst jetting off in First Class to Met Galas to wear a dress that says “Tax The Rich”. The rest of the Democrats are “feckless” because they are not as overtly Communist as Sandy. AOC. Rape victim. War criminal. “Champion” of women who cannot be bothered to help the woman in her very own district. Her lack of action on this is not “feckless”. Babygirl’s got bigger plans. She is brimming with youth and intelligence, after all. Sure, Trump is threatened. (Snicker)

The knock on her from centrists is that because AOC is a progressive, she’ll scare off potential swing voters in a presidential race. It’s possible, of course. She is demonized by Fox News on the regular, after all. But there’s not much data to suggest that swing voters, who tend to be lower-information voters than most other demographics, care that much about policy, much less are ‘moderate’ in their policy views. On the contrary, as journalist Jill Filipovic wrote in her newsletter, voters want someone ‘who promises to shake things up.’ Someone who has charisma and promises real change. Someone who seems ‘real’ and not a robot built by political consultants who are afraid to take chances.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

She’s “real”, alright.

Legalize marijuana and tax the commerce so we can fund our schools. Yep. Real smart. Keep the parents stoned and kids stoned once they are smart enough to find the parents’ stash. Keep everybody stoned and blissfully unaware of the absolute shit show that is happening around them. See: California. Oregon. Washington State. Tax. The. Rich. Still, Ms. Marcotte’s delusions shine through magnificently:

Frankly, that’s why Trump won in 2024, despite having more baggage than a 747. His rejection of the basic rules and norms of politics made him read as ‘authentic,’ especially to low-information voters, despite his relentless lying. At least the 747 is airborne with jet fuel, Amanda. And those “low-information voters” like to stay off the toxic wasteland that is Instagram. When you are comparing and contrasting “authenticity” and calling AOC the most “authentic”, the most “genuine”, a “fighter”, it’s comedic. This is where Salon and the rest of the progressives have it dead wrong. Trump and Republicans as a whole are not scared of AOC. We’re not threatened by her “brimming intellect and vitality”. We’re not scared and neither is Trump. If there is anything that scares us, it is a yammering Socialist dingbat promoting ideals she knows absolutely nothing about as “utopia” and cashing in on this concept at the expense of hard-working Americans.

Agree or disagree with her, but when she speaks, you believe she means what she says. And that likely matters more to voters than the specific content of any one comment. Right now, trust in institutions and leaders is low. The public believes no one will speak truthfully to them. “-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

Sure, we believe she means very single stupid thing that comes out of her mouth. Sure, AOC speaks the “truth”. Her truth. And, when it comes to progressive ideals, we all know people living their own truth is more important than the blatant truths and realities that surround them. So, please, put her up for your candidate in 2028, Democrats. I’ll buy the popcorn. But, wait, Comrade Marcotte has more to say:

The only way to rebut that is to put up candidates who voters believe speak from the heart. The Democrats are low on trust and it’s no wonder, when so many of them refuse to talk like normal people. Plus, unlike Trump, Ocasio-Cortez is young, beautiful and well-spoken. Next to her, he’ll look as old and out-of-touch as he actually is.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

Young, beautiful and well-spoken vocal fry. Now, who wants to sleep with AOC?

AOC versus Donald “old-and-out-of-touch” Trump in 2028? This, coming from a woman who voted for a vegetable along with the rest of the “high-information voters” in 2020.
