As his time in the White House drew to a close, former President Joe Biden made a point of granting a pardon to his son Hunter.
One observer recently argued that while Hunter Biden’s pardon was valid, many others might be subject to reversal.Â
Autopen used to sign pardons
According to Breitbart, that claim was put forward by its editor-in-chief, Alex Marlow, during an interview with Newsmax host Rob Finnerty.
Finnerty pointed to the former president’s frequent use of an autopen, which is a mechanical device that copies a signature to a document.
“Joe Biden autopen pardon people like Doctor Fauci, Mark Milley, Joe Biden, his sister Valerie, his sister in law Sarah, Liz Cheney, Adam Schiff, Adam Kinzinger,” Finnerty noted.
“The only pardon that he has an actual signature on was for his son, Hunter Biden,” he continued before adding, “Alex what do you think happens next?”
Marlow: Autopen issue will have to be litigated
“I’ll tell you, the biggest dead giveaway here is that he signed the Hunter pardon. That’s the most important detail of this whole story,” Marlow replied.
“He knew that it would be too suspicious, it’d be too risky, he wouldn’t know for sure that it was a done deal unless he signed it himself, which is [an] admission that the other pardons are illegitimate, should be null and void,” Marlow argued.
Breitbart’s editor-in-chief then went on to assert that the issue is “going to have to work its way through the court system.”
“We’ve never tested something like this in terms of whether or not it’s illegal, but clearly it should be, and all the other pardons should be nullified. All those people should be held to account in courts of law going forward,” Marlow declared.
President has instructed the attorney general to investigate autopen use
The Hill reported last month that President Donald Trump has instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate the former president’s autopen usage.
Specifically, she is to find out “whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President.”
Bondi will also review 200 federal judicial appointments as well as with the pardons and other acts of clemency which were given out during Biden’s tenure.
The Hill pointed out how for his part, Biden released a statement in which he dismissed claims of being controlled by others as “ridiculous and false.”
