In an effort to include an extension of President Donald Trump’s tax cuts from 2017 in the enormous reconciliation package now making its way through Congress, an advocacy group created by former Vice President Mike Pence has launched a website and has been reaching out to senators on Capitol Hill.
The Advancing American Freedom website offers information and materials regarding what the group says are the tax cuts’ advantages, data culled from the organization’s extensive study and memo on the topic, according to The Hill.
Information on how the tax cuts raised substantial revenue for the federal government and details of how households and businesses could face higher taxes if the cuts expire are also featured on the site.
Ad spending in the nation’s capital for a commercial asking lawmakers to extend the tax cuts was also rolled out earlier this month by the Pence-founded nonprofit.
Group’s website offers details
In an effort to streamline the process of passing President Donald Trump’s previously titled “One Big Beautiful Bill,” the group established ExtendTheTaxCuts.com as a resource for D.C. insiders.
Legislators can utilize the website’s quick facts, talking points, memos, and comprehensive report as a resource for communicating with constituents and the press regarding the significance of extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017.
As part of its multi-million-dollar grassroots effort across the country to renew the tax cuts that President Trump enacted, the American Action Forum is also launching a new digital advertisement that urges Congress to stop what has been described as the largest tax hike in history.
In the event that Congress does not bring the package to the president’s desk this year, the advertising campaign by the Pence-backed group warns that American households will experience an average tax hike of $2,100.
Final passage pending
While the huge bill passed the House weeks ago, it has been the subject of deliberation in the Senate for days, and the changes made there necessitate that the lower chamber take another pass at it before it can be signed by Trump.
However, passage in the Senate on Tuesday was a significant move forward, something that many in Washington were concerned wouldn’t happen, considering the close political margins in the upper chamber of Congress.
Advancing American Freedom President Tim Chapman issued a statement following the Senate’s passage of the formerly named One Big Beautiful Bill Act
“The Senate has voted to prevent the largest tax hike in American history and American families are one step closer to tax relief today,” Chapman said.
He went on, “The Senate vote is a major step toward putting conservative policies on President Trump’s desk, including stopping an unwanted tax increase on millions of Americans, investing in our border security, prioritizing national defense, reforming entitlement spending, and defunding abortion. It’s time for the House to take up the bill, improve it where possible, and get this win across the finish line.”
