A Colorado man is facing serious charges after allegedly attempting to abduct an 8-year-old girl not once, but twice — in the same grocery store visit.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest of 34-year-old Bradley Mikel Wilson, who was taken into custody over the weekend and charged with attempted kidnapping following a disturbing incident at a Safeway in Littleton on the morning of June 21.
According to authorities, Wilson approached a grandmother and her young granddaughter in the produce section of the store and made a chilling request: “May I borrow your child?”
Things quickly escalated when Wilson allegedly grabbed the girl by the shoulder and tried to walk her out of the store. But before he could get far, the child broke free and ran back to her grandmother, who had begun screaming for help.
Wilson fled the store — but shockingly returned moments later and allegedly tried again to take the child.
This second attempt was thwarted by Safeway staff, who yelled at Wilson and immediately alerted law enforcement. Though Wilson had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived, he was tracked down and arrested later that day.
He was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Facility shortly before midnight and remains in custody as he awaits his first court appearance on June 23.
Thankfully, both the young girl and her grandmother escaped the terrifying ordeal without physical injuries. The investigation into Wilson’s actions is ongoing.
