LEADER DRAZAN, REPRESENTATIVE BOSHART DAVIS STAND UP FOR OREGONIANS WHILE DEMOCRAT LEADERS SCRAMBLE TO ADD MORE TAXES
SALEM, Ore. – House Republican Leader Christine Drazan (R-Canby) and Representative Shelly Boshart Davis (R-Albany) responded to the removals of Co-Chair Senator Chris Gorsek (D-Gresham) and Senate President Rob Wagner (D-Lake Oswego) from the Joint Committee on Transportation following Senator Gorsek’s aggressive outburst against Co-Vice Chair Representative Boshart Davis (R-Albany) last Friday.
“Senator Gorsek and Senate President Wagner may have stepped down from this committee but both men have still failed to acknowledge the shocking behavior that led to this moment,” said House Republican Leader Christine Drazan (R-Canby). “Their transportation taxes are excessive and grossly irresponsible, and Oregonians know it. My colleague stood up for those who deserve strong representation—even when powerful men don’t like what she has to say. Representative Boshart Davis is still waiting for an apology and Oregonians are waiting to be heard and respected.”
“The decision by both of these men to step down from this committee without acknowledging the impact of Senator Gorsek’s misogynistic rage towards me shows that this is merely an effort to expedite shoving through the most expensive tax increase in Oregon history with six days left in session,” said Representative Shelly Boshart Davis (R-Albany). “Senator Gorsek’s refusal to apologize for overextending his authority and Senate President Wagner’s deafening silence is normalizing a culture of intimidation and misogyny in this building, while silencing my voice on an issue that directly impacts Oregonians and the future of our state.”
