Yet another conservative political figure abroad has been attacked.
This weekend, Colombian presidential candidate Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay was shot as he delivered a speech in Bogota.
Turbay, 39, is representing the conservative Centro Democrático party.
The party of violence
Democrats in this country often try to portray conservatives as the violent ones.
Yet, it is liberal protesters who are now setting our streets on fire over ICE raids in California.
It was liberals who were setting our streets on fire during the George Floyd riots when Donald Trump was in office the first time.
But all anyone ever focuses on is the Jan. 6 unrest at the U.S. Capitol, which was an exception to the rule for the behavior of conservatives in this country, yet the media and Democrats will never allow us to live it down.
Conservatives have the same problem abroad, as right-leaning leaders in radical countries are often the targets of violent attacks, as was the case in Columbia with this attempted assassination.
According to local reports, police arrested a 15-year-old boy who was carrying a 9mm handgun when he launched the attempted assassination.
Turbay was reportedly taken to the Fundación Santa Fe clinic, where, as of the last reports, he was in critical condition.
The Columbian government released a statement after the shooting, stating, “An attack not only against the personal integrity of the senator, but also against democracy, freedom of thought and the legitimate exercise of politics in Colombia.”
It went on, “Any act that seeks to silence through intimidation or violence those who participate in public life is unacceptable and deserves the deepest repudiation by the state and the citizenry.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also condemned the shooting, calling it “a direct threat to democracy and the result of the violent leftist rhetoric coming from the highest levels of the Colombian government.”
He also called out the government for making inflammatory remarks, much like those we hear from Democrats in this country.
There is no way I could ever be convinced the rioting that is now taking place is not a direct result of the rhetoric spewed by Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Gov. Gavin Newsom regarding the deportation of illegal immigrants and comparing ICE agents to Nazis.
Democrats got what they wanted here, and now they are trying to blame the escalation on Trump for calling in the National Guard, as if the streets were not on fire already when he ordered the troops activated.
