Elon Musk and President Donald Trump are not doing so well in their relationship, much to the disappointment of many.
According to Breitbart, Musk seemed to amp up a growing rift with Trump and his White House after holding nothing back in verbally destroying Trump’s “big, beautiful” budget bill, specifically taking issue with an EV tax credit situation.
Musk, who launched a tirade of attacks against the bill (and later, Trump himself), told his bajillions of X followers to lobby their representatives to “kill the bill.”
The Tesla billionaire had just ended his time as the leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) last week and seemed to be on great terms with Trump as he had been since Trump was elected.
What’s going on?
Musk made his thoughts on Trump’s bill loud and clear in an X post that garnered tens of millions of impressions, writing, “Call your Senator, Call your Congressman, Bankrupting America is NOT ok! KILL the BILL.”

KILL the BILL

It was originally reported that Musk was not happy with the bill as it apparently omitted several of the cuts recommended by DOGE, but others believe it has to do with an EV credit situation.
Breitbart noted:
Musk’s anger at the reconciliation bill, which narrowly passed the House of Representatives on May 22, has largely been attributed to its omission of funding cuts made by DOGE — but Republicans have also suggested that the Tesla CEO is in opposition due to the bill slashing billions of dollars in electric vehicle (EV) tax credits.
Musk commented on the bill shortly after it passed the House of Representatives.
“I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not decrease it, and undermines the work the DOGE team is doing,” Musk said last week.
Social media erupts
Users, especially Trump supporters, reacted immediately to Musk’s “kill order,” reminding him that they’re loyal to Trump and not Elon.
“Why are you stirring pots like this? Which side are you on? Pick one. We are confused who to follow,” one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, “We are loyal to Trump, not to you.”
On Thursday, Trump and Musk’s feud escalated quickly, with both parties lobbing threats and insults at each other. Only time will tell how it all plays out.
