LAS VEGAS, NV – A routine trip to a northeast valley ATM turned into a harrowing experience for Bryson Chen, a 22-year-old who narrowly escaped with his life after being shot during a robbery. The incident, which took place as Chen was withdrawing cash for gas, has left him with physical and emotional scars and prompted local authorities to seek public assistance in identifying the assailant.
Chen, who had just finished a work shift, recounted the terrifying moment when he noticed a figure approaching from behind. “I saw someone walking up, and then he pulled out a gun,” Chen recalled, describing the masked and gloved individual who demanded his money. The encounter ended with Chen being shot for a mere $40, the amount he had just withdrawn.
The suspect, still at large, managed to flee with the cash, leaving Chen injured on the ground. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released images of the suspect, urging anyone with information to come forward. Captain Michelle Tavares, who oversees the unit handling unsolved shooting cases, emphasized the importance of public assistance in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
“This was a senseless act of violence for such a small amount of money,” Tavares stated. “We hope that by sharing the suspect’s image, someone will recognize him, and we can prevent further harm.” The urgency of the situation is underscored by the need to remove the dangerous individual from the streets and provide closure to Chen.
Chen’s experience has heightened his awareness of life’s fragility. “You never know when your time might come,” he reflected, expressing gratitude for surviving the ordeal. Despite the trauma, he remains hopeful that the community will help identify the suspect.
As the investigation continues, authorities are appealing to the public for any tips that could lead to an arrest. They assure that all information will be handled confidentially, stressing that even the smallest detail could make a significant difference.
