In a gruesome and baffling case out of Detroit, a Michigan man is facing first-degree murder charges after allegedly killing his wife with a plastic sword and a pair of pliers.
Timothy Morgan, 68, turned himself in to police on May 4 after allegedly attacking his wife, 67-year-old Kathryn Morgan, in their home during the early morning hours. According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, officers arrived at the couple’s residence around 4:30 a.m. to find Kathryn unresponsive in the living room, suffering from multiple stab wounds to her head and back.
The suspected murder weapons? A plastic sword and a set of pliers.
“It is alleged that the defendant stabbed the victim multiple times with a plastic sword, before striking her in the head with a pair of pliers, fatally wounding Mrs. Morgan,” prosecutors said in a statement.
Authorities have not released a motive behind the brutal attack, and it remains unclear what led to the violence.
After the incident, Morgan voluntarily walked into the 11th Precinct of the Detroit Police Department and surrendered. He is currently being held at the Wayne County Criminal Justice Center.
Morgan is scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause hearing on May 16.
