The political cesspool of Harris County, Texas, has erupted once again as former District Attorney Kim Ogg (D) launched a scathing attack on her successor, Sean Teare (D), accusing him of orchestrating a brazen “cover-up” after yet another high-profile bid-rigging case was abruptly dropped. The latest scandal involves the dismissal of charges against former Harris County Public Health Director Barbie Robinson, who was implicated in a $40 million scheme to funnel taxpayer money to favored contractors, including tech giant IBM.
In a damning statement to ABC 13, Ogg didn’t mince words: “I think what we’re seeing is real quid pro quo status. It’s an absolute cover-up.” She went further, alleging that Teare’s decision was politically motivated, stating, “This is a cover-up by Sean Teare in return for support he received from certain public officials who could be implicated in these investigations.”
The corruption runs deep. Just months earlier, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo—a far-left Democrat—and her cronies were reimbursed nearly 900,000inlegalfees∗∗afterchargestiedtoan∗∗11 million vaccine contract scandal were mysteriously dismissed. Hidalgo’s office had attempted to award the massive contract to Felicity Pereyra, a political ally with no experience, under the guise of “vaccine outreach.” When questions arose, Hidalgo panicked and canceled the deal—but not before her top staffers, including Chief of Staff Alex Triantaphyllis and Policy Director Wallis Nader, were indicted for misuse of official information and tampering with government documents.
Yet, in a stunning display of liberal hypocrisy, Hidalgo had the audacity to claim Robinson was targeted because of her race, posting on Facebook: “The unfair prosecution and firing of Director Robinson is part of a pattern we’ve seen too often: public servants who challenge the status quo—especially people of color—being targeted with political prosecutions.” This, from an official whose own office was knee-deep in bid-rigging schemes while she threatened to jail citizens for violating her COVID mandates.
Ogg, who had previously transferred the case to Texas AG Ken Paxton’s office to prevent it from being buried, is now calling for a federal investigation, warning that evidence could be destroyed. “Harris County’s own policies allow for destruction of email communications,” she told Fox 26. “That’s why I’m calling on the federal government, the FBI, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate.”
WATCH
The liberal media, of course, has been dead silent on the rampant corruption, instead parroting Hidalgo’s race-baiting narrative while ignoring the millions of taxpayer dollars wasted in these shady deals.
