Authorities are actively searching Thursday for a suspect accused of striking multiple people on Sullivan’s Island.
Sgt. Matt Storen with the Isle of Palms Police Department told News 2 that a suspect struck “multiple children” with a vehicle near Sunrise Presbyterian Church and took off.
In an update Thursday afternoon, Sgt. Storen said law enforcement responded to a call around 12:48 p.m. regarding a wreck with multiple injuries — those injuries included juveniles and an adult.
Sgt. Storen said an adult and one juvenile were taken to an area hospital with injuries, a third was treated at the scene and released to a parent.
The suspect is described as a white, heavyset male, balding with facial hair, wearing a red shirt and dark shorts, according to an alert from the Town of Sullivan’s Island. He was last seen on foot on Jasper Boulevard between Station 30 and Station 32 Street.
Officials said the driver left the scene on foot and was last seen armed with a knife.
