Federal authorities announced Sunday that more than 100 illegal immigrants were detained in a major raid at an underground nightclub in Colorado Springs, which officials say was “frequented by TdA and MS-13 terrorists.”
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Rocky Mountain Division led the early-morning, multi-agency operation, arresting 114 illegal immigrants at the venue, which held more than 200 people at the time. During the raid, officials uncovered drugs—including pink cocaine—as well as evidence of prostitution and multiple firearms, according to the DEA.
“@DHSgov has taken more than 100 illegal aliens into custody,” DEA Rocky Mountain said in a post on X. “Drugs and weapons have also been seized at this underground nightclub in Colorado Springs.”
President Donald Trump commented on the operation in a Truth Social post on Sunday. “A big Raid last night on some of the worst people illegally in our Country — Drug Dealers, Murderers, and other Violent Criminals, of all shapes and sizes, and Judges don’t want to send them back to where they came from,” Trump wrote. “If we don’t win this battle at the Supreme Court, our Country, as we know it, is FINISHED! It will be a Crime ridden MESS. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Attorney General Pamela Bondi praised the operation, which involved 300 officials across multiple agencies, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
“This morning @DEAHQ apprehended over 100 illegal aliens at an underground night club frequented by Tda and MS-13 terrorists,” Bondi said in a post on X. “Cocaine, meth, and pink cocaine was seized.”
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and the Colorado Springs Police Department were also key participants in the raid, reports Fox news.
Footage from the operation showed agents from the U.S. Postal Service and IRS making arrests, in what officials described as a whole-of-government approach to immigration enforcement. Specifically, a U.S. Postal Service inspector and an agent with IRS Criminal Investigations were seen taking individuals into custody.
DEA Acting Administrator Derek Maltz previously said that Colorado has become “ground zero for some of the most violent criminals in America,” including leadership from Tren de Aragua, according to Denver 7.
Local officials have pointed to state policies as contributing factors. “Colorado without question has been a hub for illegal immigration due to the sanctuary policies of the city of Denver in conjunction with radical legislation (including this session) from the State Capitol affirming Colorado’s sanctuary status,” Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly told The Gazette, which first reported the story. “As the Sheriff of Douglas County I will do everything I can within Colorado law to support our federal partners. This, in turn, helps keep my community safe.”
Many of those detained are expected to face federal immigration charges, according to the DEA Rocky Mountain Division. Attorney General Bondi added that at least two individuals were also arrested on outstanding warrants.
Among those found at the nightclub were about a dozen U.S. active-duty service members, according to special DEA Rocky Mountain agent Jonathan Pullen. The service members were reportedly either patrons or working as armed security.
“I think that everybody that goes into a nightclub at 3 o’clock in the morning knows what they’re getting into,” Pullen told Denver 7. “The active duty servicemembers who were there will be dealt with by Army CID [Criminal Investigation Division]. They were on scene with us, and they are partners in this investigation.”
DEA Rocky Mountain confirmed to Fox News that while the service members have been detained, they are not currently under arrest. “Colorado Springs is waking up to a safer city this Sunday morning,” Pullen said during a press briefing.
Attorney General Bondi, celebrating the operation’s success, said, “As we approach his 100 days in office @POTUS Trump’s directive to make America safe again is achieving results!” in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Colorado Springs Chief of Police Adrian Vasquez clarified that the department’s involvement was focused solely on addressing criminal violations affecting community safety, and not on immigration enforcement, as state law restricts such activities.
