The story of Peanut the Squirrel took the Internet by storm after he and his buddy, Fred the Raccoon, were unceremoniously whacked by the government.
Judicial Watch used the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) to receive 163 pages from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which shows that the group intended to “euthanize a squirrel named ‘Peanut’ and a raccoon named ‘Fred’ before they were seized from Pine City, NY, resident Mark Longo,” the outlet reported.
The premeditated assassination of a squirrel might seem like a ridiculous use of government resources, but it is New York after all.
“The records also show that Peanut was decapitated for rabies analysis after a wildlife biologist who seized the animal from Longo claimed to have been bitten on the thumb,” Judicial Watch revealed.
Critics might argue that the biologist wouldn’t have sustained the bite if he had just left Peanut the heck alone.
It turns out that the entire incident stemmed from several “Karen”-like complaints of “unlawfully possessed raccoons, and an unlawfully possessed squirrel.” The preparations for the raid that resulted in the capture of Peanut and Fred read like something out of a satirical spy novel.
10/22/24 I was forwarded an email on my approved day off from [redacted] regarding assisting with a possible search warrant to collect the unlawfully possessed raccoons. We made arrangements to discuss the matter further on 10/23/24 at the R8 bloc meeting.
10/23/24 I met with [redacted] and discussed the basics of this case and made a plan for [redacted] and I to meet on 10/24/24 a [sic] the R8 office to begin working on the case file. I advised [redacted] of the case and that I would be assisting the uniform officers with a possible search warrant to collect the raccoons.
10/24/24 I met with [redacted] at the R8 office and began researching the social media accounts of suspect Mark Longo. I also advised [redacted] of the case and to relay any new complaints to me or [redacted]. I spoke to [redacted] and [redacted] and made a plan to work the case with the uniformed officers. I advised wildlife staff of DLE’s [Division of Law Enforcement’s] involvement and to forward any inquiries regarding the case to me or [redacted].
I observed several videos on TicToc [sic], Facebook, and Instagram related to the suspected unlawful possession of squirrels and raccoons on the accounts held by Mark Longo.

If ever there was an example of why big government isn’t a good thing, it is this unbelievable story! People can’t safely ride the subway, but the state sent 12 officers, let me repeat that, 12 OFFICERS, to kill a man’s rescue pets!
Hochul tried to throw the book at Daniel…

Hochul tried to throw the book at Daniel Penny, a hero who cared more about the safety of the citizens of New York than Hochul ever has! Government works for us, they need to remember that!” TexanQueenBee wrote.

Peanut and Fred were nature’s Paul Revere alerting and waking many people up to the potential evilness of government. Thanks for your efforts Tom!

I pray justice will be served. It won’t bring them back but if those involved with their deaths are fined, fired & jailed, it would restore some sense of belief in the NY justice syndicate… er, I meant system.
