Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of President Donald Trump, served as one of her father’s senior advisors during his first term in office but has been conspicuously absent from his second tenure in the White House, as she has purposefully sought to distance herself from politics.
That distancing was confirmed when Ivanka revealed that she and her family spent the past week vacationing in the Central American tropical paradise of Costa Rica, where they enjoyed the “pura vida” vibe and lifestyle, according to the Washington Examiner.
Of course, even though she is entirely uninvolved in the second Trump administration, she and her decidedly non-controversial and pleasant posts about her family’s vacation were summarily attacked by sneering critics and haters in the media and online.
Ivanka shares pics following family vacation
In an X post on Wednesday that included several pictures, Ivanka Trump expressed how beyond “grateful” she was for the family vacation that had just concluded, and how “Spending Passover and Easter week surrounded by the raw beauty of Costa Rica was a gift beyond words.”
“Time slowed. We surfed under golden skies, zipped through the jungle canopy, leapt into cool waterfalls, read until the sun dipped low, and surrendered to stillness and deep sleep,” she wrote. “But more than the adventure, this week was about reconnecting — with the Earth, with faith, and with one another. Logging off and tuning in. Grounding in nature’s rhythm. Feeling the sacred in the silence, in the laughter of my children, in the breath of the trees.”
“My heart is full of gratitude for these moments of togetherness and renewal. Amid the peace and quiet, I also found space to reflect and plan for the upcoming launch of a few projects that I’m very excited to share with you soon!” she continued without providing any additional details about the upcoming projects.
“Now home in Miami, heart full and ready to hit the ground running,” Ivanka added. “Pura vida. Shalom.”
Ivanka accused of “flaunting” her vacation while other Americans are struggling
Rather predictably, Ivanka Trump came under attack with harsh critiques and insults, in large part solely because of her father and last name, in response to her sharing about her family’s vacation to Costa Rica.
New York magazine’s Intelligencer knocked the president’s eldest daughter for having the audacity to wish her social media followers “peace” while simultaneously “flaunting” her likely expensive weeklong trip to an “idyllic” foreign paradise that many Americans can only dream of one day affording.
The Trump-hating outlet sneered that most of Ivanka’s followers would be incapable of enjoying the same sort of “peace” she’d found because they were likely all trapped in “Donald Trump’s increasingly authoritarian America.”
“And it’s hard to find ‘peace and presence’ when you’re stressing about the impact of Trump’s chaotic tariffs, arbitrary DOGE cuts, and various threats to civil liberties,” the Intelligencer added. “But perhaps we should just be grateful that Ivanka spared a kind thought for us plebs.”
Online critics call Ivanka “tone deaf” and “privileged”
Similarly, the Irish Star reported that Ivanka Trump’s posts on X and Instagram about the Costa Rica vacation were sharply criticized online by users who chided her for being “tone deaf,” “privileged,” and unable to “read the room” while millions of Americans allegedly suffered under her father’s policies as president.
“Some people didn’t have food to eat, but you keep doing you,” one user said critically, while another remarked, “It’s not paradise when locals can’t afford to live here,” and still another quipped, “While your father dismantles democracy. Enjoy your waves though.”
“So tone deaf. You and your family are complicit in the destruction of this nature you claim to love so much,” one critic griped. “Suggest you stop posting narcissistic pictures of yourself and actually try and use your position for some good this time around.”
