Adam Schiff Attacks Trump Over Tariffs

Democrats are trying to use the controversy over Donald Trump’s tariffs as the torpedo that finally sinks his ship, as they have been trying to for years.

They know that not everybody is on board with his decision, and they are attempting to take advantage of that fact to deliver him a political blow that he can’t recover from.

Adam Schiff is one of the leaders in this effort, as he often is.

He is making the public threat that if there is a recession, it will be blamed on Donald Trump due to his tariffs.

Of course, this would be a serious crisis for Trump if it really happened.

But Trump is surely not taking Schiff’s threat lying down, and he is working day and night to make sure his tariff strategy works.

And if it does, he will certainly not be shy about letting people know that he was right and Schiff was wrong.

Schiff Threatens to Blame Trump if a Recession Happens

According to The Hill, “Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Trump is ‘wrecking the economy,’ adding that if the U.S. heads into a recession, it will be known as the ‘Trump recession.’

“During an appearance on NBC News’s ‘Meet the Press,’ Schiff was asked by host Kristen Welker about Trump’s assurance that his global tariffs will create an ‘economic revolution.’”

Here is what Schiff said: “I don’t agree with any part of that. And unfortunately, he’s wrecking our economy. I hope and pray we stay out of recession. But if we head into a recession, it will be the Trump recession.”

Schiff and his fellow Democrats will clearly be waiting to pounce in case there is a recession, so they can blame it on Trump and ruin him politically.

But Trump has endured these types of attacks before and survived, so he will not be lacking in confidence that he can survive this one as well.

Schiff continued, “This is a completely self-destructive economic act that he’s engaged in. And it’s not just the tariffs. It’s also the freezing of funds, the firing of people, the alienation of our allies in California. I’m hearing from farmers who still haven’t recovered market share from the tariffs during the first Trump administration.”

Trump’s tariffs are not only unpopular with Democrats, as many Republicans have come out against them as well due to their economic impact.

But Trump is confident that the short-term pain will lead to long-term gain, and it remains to be seen if his prediction about that comes true.

If it does then he will make sure the American people know about it, and he will remind them about all the statements that Schiff and others made leading up to it.

This will be a major D.C. drama that will just have to play out over the next few weeks and months.
