
Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis signed two bills Monday for his state to legally recognize the body of water along its western coast as the “Gulf of America.”
The change makes Florida the first such state to do so and follows President Donald Trump on Jan. 20, his first day in office since winning reelection in 2024, signing an executive order to change the name of the body of water from the Gulf of Mexico.
