President Donald Trump’s administration just secured another key legal victory, advancing its effort to crack down on illegal immigration and enforce federal law across the board—including in places previously seen as off-limits.
A federal judge has ruled in favor of allowing ICE agents to conduct operations at churches and other places of worship.
The decision came from U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich, a Trump appointee.
She denied a lawsuit brought by more than two dozen left-leaning religious groups, who were trying to block the policy on the grounds of so-called “religious freedom.” The judge wasn’t buying it.
These activist groups—mainly progressive Christian and Jewish organizations—claimed the policy was scaring off illegal aliens from attending church.
But Judge Friedrich pointed out the real reason was fear of being caught in their neighborhoods—not specifically in churches.
In her decision, Friedrich noted that there was no solid proof ICE was unfairly targeting churches, as Trending Politics reported.
She highlighted that there were only a handful of enforcement operations near religious buildings, and even those were conducted legally and cautiously.
The judge also dismantled the idea that this policy is directly responsible for lower church attendance.
She rightly noted that the decline is more likely due to broader ICE efforts and general public concern—not church-specific raids.
The lead lawyer for the plaintiffs, Kelsi Corkran, responded with the usual liberal talking points about the First Amendment and religious rights.
Her side is “reviewing options,” meaning they’re likely preparing another round of taxpayer-funded legal games.
Back in January, on day one of his second term, President Trump immediately reversed a weak Department of Homeland Security rule that restricted where ICE agents could operate.
Trump replaced it with a more common-sense directive that allows agents to act based on discretion—without needing a supervisor’s sign-off.
For over 30 years, enforcement operations in so-called “sensitive locations” like schools and churches were limited.
But that policy created sanctuary zones where lawbreakers could hide. President Trump is finally restoring sanity.
Despite the left’s best efforts, Judge Friedrich found no convincing evidence that ICE’s presence near religious buildings was unconstitutional or abusive.
Her ruling reflects a return to law and order.
The Biden years saw ICE shackled by rules that made their job nearly impossible.
Trump, on the other hand, is unleashing them to do what they were hired to do—enforce immigration law without exception.
Still, the fight isn’t over. Other cases remain pending.
A Maryland judge temporarily blocked ICE from operating on property owned by certain religious groups, including the Quakers. But in Colorado, another judge backed Trump’s policy, showing growing momentum.
Judge Friedrich’s ruling follows another recent legal win by the Trump administration.
The Supreme Court just overturned an Obama judge’s effort to limit the president’s power under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
