In this explosive segment from Next News Network’s RAW FEED, host Gary Franchi exposes the shocking battle over the SAVE Act – legislation that simply requires proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. What should be common sense has somehow become the most controversial bill in Washington, with 208 Democrats voting against it in a display that has Americans questioning their motives.
The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act just passed the House despite fierce opposition from Democrats who called this basic election integrity measure "racist" and a "voter suppression bill." But what does the SAVE Act actually do? It merely requires proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections – something 87% of Americans already agree with.
In a moment of accidental honesty, Democratic Representative Latimer admitted while railing against the bill that they found "no appreciable illegal voting" in his district. As Western Lensman pointed out in response, anything more than ZERO illegal votes is unacceptable in a constitutional republic where every legitimate vote matters.
Perhaps the most revealing opposition came from Congresswoman Laura Friedman (D-CA), who claimed the SAVE Act would make it "too hard for women to vote" because they might have changed their names through marriage. This patronizing argument suggests women are somehow incapable of proving their citizenship – despite the fact that women regularly provide identification to drive, purchase alcohol, and even buy cold medicine.
Republican Congresswoman Kat Cammack’s response was explosive. "I am sick and tired, and I know women across this country are sick and tired, of being insulted by the left’s fear-mongering," she declared on the House floor. "This bill is simple. It ensures that only American citizens can vote in our federal elections."
Democrats framed the citizenship requirement as a "poll tax," claiming it would cost billions to comply, despite Americans already needing ID for countless activities. As Representative Chip Roy reminded, "There’s nothing more sacred than ensuring the people can elect their representatives."
The reality is that federal law prevents states from verifying citizenship for federal elections. Arizona, for example, uses separate systems – one for state elections that verifies citizenship, and another for federal elections that doesn’t. The SAVE Act aims to close this loophole.
As Representative Mary Miller put it, "Every vote cast by an illegal alien is a vote stolen from an American citizen." With millions of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border, many registering to vote, the threat to election integrity is at an all-time high.

The battle for election integrity now moves to the Senate, where a slim majority will face intense pressure from special interests seeking to keep elections vulnerable. The question: Will they stand with the 87% of Americans who believe only citizens should vote?
Democrats have run out of excuses, calling voter ID racist, citizenship requirements oppressive, and smearing anyone who supports election integrity. As Lauren Boebert asked on the House floor, "Since we’re using women as bait, maybe they could explain what a woman is."
The SAVE Act isn’t about suppressing votes – it’s about protecting the right of American citizens to choose their representatives without their votes being canceled by non-citizens. This isn’t a partisan issue; it’s about preserving the integrity of our democracy for future generations.
