Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has uncovered a jaw-dropping fraud scheme involving nearly $400 million in unemployment benefits paid to non-existent people, including infants and individuals allegedly over 115 years old. This bombshell revelation exposes just how deep the fraud runs, but the Democrats have said nothing.
At a glance:
• DOGE discovered $69 million in unemployment benefits claimed by 9,700 people with birth dates 15 years in the future
• One person with a birth year of 2154 claimed $41,000 in benefits
• Investigation revealed 24,500 people over 115 years old claimed $59 million in benefits
• Nearly 28,000 children under five years old claimed $254 million in unemployment benefits
• Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has committed to recovering the stolen taxpayer dollars
Shocking Discovery of Taxpayer Abuse
Elon Musk’s DOGE team has exposed a staggering level of fraud in the unemployment benefits system, revealing that millions of dollars have been paid to fictitious claimants. The latest investigation uncovered how thousands of unemployment claims were even filed by people with birth dates set years in the future and by supposed supercentenarians who would be the oldest humans on earth.
Musk shared his disbelief on his social media platform X, stating, “Your tax dollars were going to pay fraudulent unemployment claims for fake people born in the future. This is so crazy that I had to read it several times before it sank in.”
BREAKING: Secretary of Labor and @DOGE uncover over $400 million in unemployment insurance fraud.
“We have almost 25,000 people over 115 years old who are collecting $59 million… 28,000 people between 1 and 5 years old have collected fraudulent payments of $254 million.… pic.twitter.com/9OZOzcZ28f

The DOGE team found that $69 million in unemployment benefits were claimed by 9,700 people with birth dates 15 years in the future. In one particularly egregious case, a person with a birth year of 2154 successfully claimed $41,000 in benefits from the government.
Government Accountability Under Trump
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer confirmed the findings and emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing the fraud. “This is another incredible discovery by the DOGE team, finding nearly $400 million in fraudulent unemployment payments,” she said.

“The Labor Department is committed to recovering Americans’ stolen tax dollars. We will catch these thieves and keep working to root out egregious fraud—accountability is here,” Chavez-DeRemer added.
The investigation also exposed that 24,500 people allegedly over 115 years old claimed $59 million in benefits. Musk pointed out the absurdity of these claims, noting, “The oldest living American is 114 years old, so it is safe to say that anyone 115 or older is collecting ‘unemployment’ due to being dead.”
Even more shocking was the discovery that approximately 28,000 children under five years of age somehow claimed $254 million in unemployment benefits. These revelations have sparked outrage among taxpayers and calls for systemic reforms in benefit verification procedures.
Ongoing Reform Efforts
DOGE’s investigation is part of President Trump’s broader initiative to eliminate wasteful government spending and root out fraud. The agency has also been working on identifying Social Security number holders incorrectly listed as being 120 years old or older, already marking 9.9 million records as deceased.
The fraud findings have led to a deeper examination of verification systems across federal agencies. Acting Social Security Commissioner Lee Dudek responded to DOGE’s findings by clarifying that not all individuals in their records without death dates are necessarily receiving benefits.
The U.S. Department of Labor is now conducting a full investigation into how these fraudulent claims were approved in the first place. Critics point to state-level negligence or incompetence in handling unemployment claims as a significant contributing factor to the widespread fraud.
