Popular podcast host Joe Rogan has responded to accusations made by “The View” co-host Joy Behar that he “believes in dragons.” In a special podcast released on Thanksgiving, Rogan said he thought the whole exchange was “funny” and criticized the show’s credibility.
“I had to read the thing about ‘The View’ because I just thought it was funny,” he said, per the New York Post. “Joy Behar was trying to say I believe in dragons! She said, ‘I checked it, I checked it!’ And then the lady goes, ‘Did you double check it,’ and she goes, ‘I checked it, he believes in dragons. They lived alongside people.’”
Rogan also slammed Behar for asserting that “The View” provided reliable information, simply because it was supported by the resources of ABC News.
“This is the most important part,” he continued. “This is right after she was saying, ‘We are run by ABC News, you should trust us,’ not Joe Rogan who believes in dragons,’ so by saying we should trust them because they’re double checked by ABC News and then making the stupidest f–king statement — You didn’t listen to what I said, you didn’t listen to what the wildlife biologist said.”
Rogan’s response was about a segment on “The View” which discussed young Americans’ reliance on social media influencers for news.
“We went from Walter Cronkite, basically, to this guy Joe Rogan who believes in dragons. I checked it,” said Behar, criticizing the shift from traditional news sources.
“And he also thinks that they-dragons-like I guess dinosaur-y type of animals roamed the Earth when people did.”
Rogan has previously explored the topic of dragons on his podcast, discussing their prevalence in various cultures worldwide. He has speculated about whether dragon myths could be based on early human encounters with large reptiles or misinterpreted fossil evidence.
After learning about Behar’s comments towards him, Rogan shared a clip of the conversation on X with the caption, “That’s my new official X description.” True to his word, Rogan updated his X bio to read “Dragon Believer.”
The podcaster didn’t stop there. He shared a clip from his show featuring adventurer Forrest Galante, where they discussed the possibility of dragon-like creatures.
“It’s so possible that something that flew like a pterodactyl, like we think of pterodactyls as being like bat wings, maybe they had feathers, maybe that a gigantic predatory bird and maybe some of those things looked like dragons,” Rogan explained.
The exchange highlights the ongoing debate about the credibility of different news sources and the role of social media influencers in shaping public opinion. “The View” hosts emphasized the importance of fact-checking, with Sara Haines urging viewers to be skeptical and “triple-check” information that provokes strong reactions.
This incident occurs against the backdrop of a recent poll showing many young Americans turning to social media influencers and podcasts for news rather than traditional outlets. Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” has gained significant influence, particularly among younger audiences.
Due to his popularity, Rogan has been a target of mainstream media outlets for his stance on controversial topics. Kim Williams, the chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, recently called him “deeply repulsive.”
