There is a major power struggle that is continuing between the Biden administration and the state of Texas.
The battle is ongoing as Texas continues to push the boundaries on what it can to protect the border since Biden has loosened border laws.
In this case, a federal appeals court ruled that the razor wire Texas had put up along border fences is legal, with the Biden administration having tried to order Border Patrol agents to cut it down.
Put It Back
Immigration falls under federal purview… that has been established by the Supreme Court.
However, Texas has been testing the limits on what the state can do when the feds drop the ball.
To that point, Texas had put razor wire up on fences along Eagle Pass to the tune of about 29 miles.
The Biden administration wanted Border Patrol agents to remove the razor wire fencing, but Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued the administration to block the fencing from being destroyed.
Texas had lost the case in the lower court, which Paxton immediately appealed.
The federal appeals court then ruled 2-1 in Texas’ favor.
Paxton stated, “It was shocking to me that the federal government would go out of their way to cut razor wire to allow illegals to cross when we’re just trying to protect our own land.
“This wasn’t their land. This was our land, our private property. It had nothing due to the federal government. So this is a good win for Texas, a good win for the country, that this court recognized our ability to protect our land.”
Amerika Garcia Grewal, an organizer with the Eagle Pass Border Coalition, was not so happy with the ruling.
Grewal stated, “The long-term implications of this decision are dire.
“It sets a dangerous precedent for using excessive force and disregarding human rights. We need to move towards a more humane and effective approach to border management.”
Disregarding human rights? Excessive force? If you go into that fencing, you are doing so of your own free will, so I don’t get the excessive force claim.
As far as human rights are concerned, exactly what rights are being violated when a barrier is being erected to protect the border of a country?
Get in line and follow our immigration laws and you don’t have to worry about running into the razor wire to get over the border.
I realize how radical of an idea that is, but it is about time our border laws are respected.
