He highlighted what he describes as fundamental flaws in both her candidacy and the Democratic Party’s selection process.
Speaking during a heated discussion on “CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip,” O’Leary didn’t mince words about what he views as the Democratic Party’s strategic miscalculation.
He pointed to their decision to bypass a primary process, instead backing Harris with a substantial war chest of $317 million while retaining the same campaign leadership.
“They made an excuse of $317 million in the kitty. They kept the same campaign manager and said we will anoint this faulted, broken candidate who was inconsequential in her vice presidency,” O’Leary stated during the roundtable discussion.
The investor’s criticism extended beyond campaign mechanics, zeroing in on Harris’s performance history.
He referenced her unsuccessful 2019 campaign and what he characterized as her inability to connect with voters or articulate clear positions.
A particularly damaging moment, according to O’Leary, came during Harris’s appearance on “The View,” where even with favorable questioning, she struggled to differentiate herself from President Biden’s policies.
“She was so weak as a candidate, she couldn’t even answer that she would do something different. It ricocheted around the world,” O’Leary declared.
“She was finished. They will never do that again.”
The controversy deepened with O’Leary’s revelation about behind-the-scenes political maneuvering.
He disclosed that approximately three months ago, Nancy Pelosi approached Biden about stepping aside.
This led to internal discussions about Harris’s suitability as a candidate, with Biden himself reportedly questioning whether she was the right choice to lead the party forward.
O’Leary’s criticism of the Democratic Party’s selection process was particularly pointed, as he suggested that key party figures, potentially including Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi, had made crucial decisions without proper democratic process.
Drawing on his business expertise, he compared the situation to poor investment strategy, ultimately concluding that this represented a second instance of the Democratic Party circumventing democratic principles.
