In a disturbing development that has rattled the incoming Trump administration, nearly a dozen Cabinet nominees and appointees faced serious threats to their lives on Tuesday night.
The news triggered an immediate law enforcement intervention.
Tom Homan, the incoming Trump border czar, addressed these developments during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Story” with Gillian Turner on Wednesday.
Homan, who has previously received death threats himself, acknowledged that recent events have caused him to reassess the seriousness of such threats.
“I have not taken this serious up to this point,” Homan stated.
“Now that I know what’s happened in the last 24 hours, I will take it a little more serious.”
He revealed his extensive history with similar threats, noting that during his tenure as ICE director in the previous Trump administration, he required constant security detail protection.
Even after his retirement, the threats persisted to such an extent that U.S. marshals were assigned to protect him and his family.
Homan attributed part of the problem to media coverage, stating, “I’ve read numerous hit pieces. I mean, you know, I’m a racist and, you know, I’m the father of family separation, all this other stuff. So the hate media doesn’t help at all because there are some nuts out there.”
Despite the intimidation attempts, Homan maintained a defiant stance.
“I’m not going to be intimidated by these people,” he declared, adding, “I’m not going to let them silence me.”
He emphasized the need for serious legal consequences, stating, “It’s illegal to threaten someone’s life. And we need to follow through with that.”
Fox News reported that the threats, which included bomb threats and “swatting” incidents, targeted high-profile nominees including CIA director nominee John Ratcliffe and Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth.
Trump-Vance transition spokeswoman and incoming White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the incidents, describing them as “violent, unAmerican threats” that targeted not only the nominees but also their households.
Law enforcement agencies responded swiftly to ensure the safety of those targeted.
Among those affected were Representative Elise Stefanik, nominated for U.N. ambassador, agriculture secretary nominee Brooke Rollins, and EPA administrator nominee Lee Zeldin.
Additional threats were directed at labor secretary nominee Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer and the family of former attorney general nominee Matt Gaetz, Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
The timing of these threats is particularly concerning, coming just months after two reported assassination attempts on former President Trump.
Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the sources of these threats, with Homan calling for “a strong response once we find out who is behind all this.”
