British authorities arrested six individuals in London on Wednesday as part of an ongoing counter-terrorism investigation targeting alleged connections to the PKK, the Kurdish militant group outlawed in the United Kingdom.
The operation resulted in the detention of four men and two women under provisions of the Terrorism Act of 2000. The PKK, which seeks Kurdish independence in southeastern Turkey, is classified as a banned extremist organization by British authorities.

Acting Cmdr. Helen Flanagan stated, “This activity has come about following a significant investigation and operation into activity we believe is linked to the terrorist group PKK. These are targeted arrests of those we suspect of being involved in terrorist activity linked to the group.”

Law enforcement officials conducted searches at eight locations across London, including the Kurdish Community Center in Haringey, north London. Authorities emphasized that they did not believe there was any immediate danger to the public during these operations.
The coordinated arrests demonstrate British authorities’ continued efforts to combat organizations designated as terrorist groups within the country’s borders.
