Vice President Kamala Harris emerged on Tuesday with a brief video message posted on the Democratic Party’s X account, addressing supporters after her election loss to President-elect Donald Trump.
Harris delivered a 28-second video from what appeared to be a living room, looking visibly weary.
“I just have to remind you, don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you. You have the same power that you did before November 5th,” she stated, referencing the presidential election.
X users were quick to point out that the veep did not look sober.
“Is Kamala Harris drunk?” users like Chad Prather asked as the video made its rounds on social media.”
Another user posted, “she sounds like a drunk girl hyping me up in the women’s restroom.”
In the weeks following the election, Trump has been actively preparing for his transition, announcing multiple Cabinet appointees and resolving a transition stalemate with the Biden White House.
Daily Mail reported that following the election defeat, Harris departed for Hawaii, spending six days at a luxurious $1,300-per-night vacation property.
The 5,200 sq. ft, five-bedroom property belonged to a member of the Mondavi wine family and reportedly included three complimentary bottles of Mondavi wine with each reservation.
Harris officially conceded the election on the campus of her alma mater, Howard University, where her election night celebration had been held.
Supporters in the crowd were visibly emotional during her concession.
Daily Mail noted that her first public appearance with President Biden after the election was at a Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington Cemetery on November 11, characterized by a somber atmosphere.
The vice president’s campaign had touted a sophisticated ground operation, but Trump’s messaging on economic and immigration issues ultimately proved more effective.
Despite initial polling showing a competitive race, Harris lost all seven battleground states.
Questions have emerged regarding her campaign’s substantial financial expenditure, with particular scrutiny on celebrity-filled concert rallies in swing states during the campaign’s final days.
Harris’s political trajectory has been marked by significant shifts.
She initially ran for president in the 2020 election cycle, dropping out before the Iowa caucuses. Biden then selected her as his running mate.
In July, party leaders pushed her to the top of the ticket after concerns about Biden’s debate performance against Trump.
While Harris has reportedly left the door open for a future presidential run, her most recent campaign ended with a decisive defeat.
Her video message emphasized resilience: “And you have the same purpose that you did. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire. So don’t ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you.”
Online reactions were mixed, with some commenters questioning her demeanor in the video.
