The Hungarian government and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) are committed to strengthening their partnership in order to tackle economic challenges effectively and create impactful programmes for the business sector. Spokesperson for the Prime Minister Bertalan Havasi confirmed this following a recent meeting between Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and newly elected President of the MKIK Elek Nagy.
According to Bertalan Havasi, the MKIK serves as the primary representative body for Hungary’s entrepreneurial community, regularly consulting with businesses and drawing on international best practices to propose recommendations to the government. The Prime Minister affirmed that the chamber remains the government’s most crucial partner in economic matters.
During the meeting both parties underscored the indispensability of close collaboration. Effective programmes and solutions for the entrepreneurial sector’s challenges can only be devised through coordinated efforts between the chamber and the government.
‘The goals are aligned, and the government awaits the chamber’s proposals,’ Havasi stated, adding that Elek Nagy outlined MKIK’s short- and medium-term objectives, developed through extensive consultations.
Among the key proposals presented were initiatives to strengthen businesses’ capital position, facilitate their entry into foreign markets, and provide access to cutting-edge technological innovations.
Aligned with the government’s recently announced 21-point economic development programme, the MKIK proposed a 15-point action plan prioritizing business-friendly measures. These include reducing administrative and payroll burdens, supporting green and digital transitions, and promoting international market access for Hungarian companies. The plan is expected to have a significant positive impact not only on the business environment but also on Hungary’s GDP.
Prime Minister Orbán and President Nagy agreed to improve coordination for the benefit of domestic businesses. The government will offer analytical resources to the chamber, while the MKIK committed to initiating structured collaboration across key topics. Elek Nagy assured regular updates to the Prime Minister on progress.
The enhanced partnership between the government and the MKIK is poised to deliver innovative solutions and robust support for Hungary’s business community, ensuring sustainable growth and economic resilience.
