Georgia Governor Brian Kemp was elected chairman of the Republican Governors Association (RGA) during the group’s 2024 Annual Conference.
Kemp, who will serve a one-year term as RGA chairman, succeeds Tennessee Governor Bill Lee in the role.
Lee will now serve on RGA’s 2025 Executive Committee along with Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, Missouri Governor-elect Mike Kehoe, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.
“I want to thank my fellow Governors for entrusting me to lead the Republican Governors Association, and I want to thank Governor Bill Lee for his incredible service as RGA Chair over the past year,” Kemp said in a statement.
“Republican governors are making common sense, conservative policies a reality, putting families and children first, and making our states the best places to run a business and raise a family. I look forward to working with my fellow Republican governors and President Trump to keep getting the job done for the American people and to add even more Republican governors to our ranks,” Kemp added.
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte was also elected to serve as RGA Vice Chair for 2025, succeeding Kemp in the role.
Gianforte said he was “honored” to serve and “continue to work with my colleagues to elect strong, Republican governors across the nation.”
“Republican governors are cutting taxes, investing in infrastructure and our workforce, putting parents, students, and teachers first, and helping secure the border. But, we have even more work to do. I look forward to working with Governor Kemp, my fellow Republican governors, and President Trump to build a safer, more prosperous future for all Americans,” Gianforte added.
RGA’s 2025 Annual Conference also saw South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster elected to serve as the organization’s policy chair.
RGA, according to its website, is a political organization that “helps elect Republicans to governorships throughout the nation and provides them with the resources to help them govern effectively.”
