JG Green Edwards, just 23, was on a heartwarming mission to capture family moments when his life was tragically cut short. His infant daughter, a mere five months old, was in the car, along with another passenger who sustained injuries. Miraculously, the baby was unharmed, though covered in debris from the attack.
Chavez, a repeat offender, had been walking free despite facing four felony charges. His alleged access to a firearm has raised serious questions about systemic failures. Advocates argue that such access should have been impossible given his criminal record.
On Monday, Chavez faced a judge for the first time on charges of murder and aggravated assault. The incident unfolded on Beechnut Street, where Edwards’ car, riddled with gunfire, ended its journey in a bank’s parking lot.
