A California man was allegedly drunk when he caused Sunday’s wreck which killed two girls.
Alexis Garcia, 28, reportedly drove his truck through a red light in Rialto as another car turned left. KABC reported that this led to a collision which caused the other vehicle to crash into a tow truck — killing two occupants of the other vehicle, Alinah and Neveah Flores, 3 and 4, and leaving their father with moderate injuries.
The girls died at the scene. Their mother, who was also in the car, was uninjured.
KTTV reported that Garcia was located a quarter-mile from the scene where his truck was found disabled. A passenger in Garcia’s truck and the tow truck driver were also not injured.
According to KABC, an investigation determined that Garcia was under the influence of alcohol when he sped through the red light.
“It’s horrific. It was 100 percent preventable,” officer Rusty Lamm commented.
Garcia was arrested for murder, DUI, and hit-and-run. KABC reported that he will be booked into jail without bond after he undergoes treatment for the injuries he presumably sustained in Sunday’s wreck.
