Once again, when it comes to Donald Trump, the mainstream media has failed to do its due diligence before reporting a story.
In this case, the media jumped all over reports of an alleged medical emergency at Mar-a-Lago.
It turned out this was all a false alarm.
Fake News
According to the report, a CBS pool reporter made it sound as though there was some type of medical emergency taking place at Mar-a-Lago.
This was picked up on by The Independent’s Andrew Feinberg, who reported, “CALM DOWN, PEOPLE. Per a transition source and @SecretService, the ambulances were part of Vice President-elect @JDVance’s motorcade. False alarm. Go about your business.”
The Secret Service came right out to deny there were any issues, stating, “We are not tracking any Secret Service-directed medical transports from Mar-a-Lago, and from our personnel on the ground.
“There are no issues or concerns with any Secret Service protectees on property.”
Steven Cheung, Trump’s polarizing communications boss, took no time at all to rip the media over the bogus reporting.
He posted, “The press has set up a fake, unofficial ‘pool’ because they want to feel important about themselves.
“In this case, some idiot at CBS overreacted and set off the fire alarm for no reason thinking they were going to get the scoop of a lifetime. F***ing dummy.”
This is a story that probably would have taken about five minutes to vet before jumping the gun, but that is the state of today’s media.
Today’s media is all about being first rather than being right, and they seem to be getting things wrong far more often than they get them right as a result of that.
